Are You At Peace with God?

“She opens her mouth with wisdom, and on her tongue is the law of kindness. She watches over the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness.”

Proverbs 31:26-27

Ponder This

This passage describes a woman who has control of her tongue. She opens her mouth with wisdom and on her tongue is the law of kindness. Do you know why this is? Do you know why she can talk with such dignity, poise, and grace? Because she's already been up early in the morning; she’s had her quiet time with God. Her life is well-ordered because her heart is at peace with God. When you lash out at others, it reveals more about you than anyone else. If you're one who is continually lashing out, you’re a person who is not at peace with yourself. And if you’re not at peace with yourself, it’s because you’re not at peace with God. And if you’re not at peace with Him, it is because you have not had quality, priority time with Almighty God.

  • Have you experienced the peace that comes from continual and regular time spent with God?
  • When you are not at peace with God, have you found it more difficult to control your anger and your tongue?

Practice This

Make a commitment each day this week to spend dedicated time with God, that you might grow in relationship with Him and find peace in your spirit.

Front Porch Moments by Gayle Foster

WITH KEY INSIGHTS FROM HER FATHER, ADRIAN ROGERS

I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.

Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
