“To the pure all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but even their mind and conscience are defiled. They profess to know God, but in works they deny Him, being abominable, disobedient, and disqualified for every good work.”

Have you ever heard anybody say, “I’m not a Christian because there are hypocrites in the Church”? That’s a sin against reason. Anybody with a modicum of intelligence knows that is not reasonable. There may be some Christians who are hypocrites. Judas was a hypocrite.
Some eggs may be rotten, but you’ve probably had some for breakfast that weren’t the rotten kind. Some money may be counterfeit. Would you burn all the rest of your money if you saw a counterfeit bill? Imagine saying, “I just don’t believe in hypocrite bills. I’m going to get rid of my money.” You know better than that. It is the hypocrite who proves the validity of the real. Why do people counterfeit 50-dollar bills? Because of the worth of 50-dollar bills. People don’t make counterfeit gum wrappers.
When you say the Church is full of hypocrites, you know better. I’ve been preaching long enough to know the best people on the face of God’s green earth meet on Sunday morning to give Him glory and praise. I’m not going to let hypocrites keep me out of Heaven and then spend eternity with them forever in Hell. This is a sin against reason.
I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.
Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
