Are You Ready for Christ’s Return?

“Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour.”

1 John 2:18

Ponder This

We are living on the edge of the last days—that period between Jesus’ ascension and His return. He could come at any moment. The return of Christ is imminent. It is important to recognize this about Bible prophecy—there is no sign that we’re waiting for. There is no event in history that we’re waiting for. Jesus Christ could have come back three weeks after He ascended into Heaven. And He may come back this afternoon. The entire Bible teaches that we’re on the very edge, on the very brink, and therefore we should be yearning for His return and not yawning. We should be ready for the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is promised, it is imminent, and it could happen at any moment. Are you ready?

  • How often do you think about Jesus’ return?
  • Does your life give evidence that you truly believe in this promised reality? How so?

Practice This

Take time to read Matthew 25. Consider what it would look like for you to live each day ready for the return of Christ.

Front Porch Moments by Gayle Foster

WITH KEY INSIGHTS FROM HER FATHER, ADRIAN ROGERS

I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.

Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
