“…which He promised before through His prophets in the Holy Scriptures, concerning His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh, and declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead. Through Him we have received grace and apostleship for obedience to the faith among all nations for His name, among whom you also are the called of Jesus Christ.”

The Gospel of God that Paul was dedicated to is not a so-called gospel that merely mentions Jesus or that only alludes to Jesus: Jesus is the Gospel.
Do you know why we have churches filled with moral worldlings? They have religion, but they’ve never met Jesus Christ. Christianity is not a creed, not a code, not a cause; it is Christ. But you cannot take Jesus Christ out of Christianity and still have Christianity. It’s like taking the water out of a well, notes out of music, numbers out of mathematics. So many people have had an encounter with religion. But religion is not the Gospel. The source of the Gospel is God. The subject of the Gospel is Jesus. The supply of the Gospel is grace. Poor, lost, ruined sinners like we are saved by the glorious Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Write down some areas in which you struggle to extend grace to others. Lift these burdens up to God, asking Him to help you stay fixed on Jesus, the subject of the Gospel.
I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.
Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
