“He [God] has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins. He [Jesus] is the image of the invisible God… and in Him, all things consist… that in all things He may have the preeminence. For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness [of God] should dwell.”

God is Spirit, invisible—unfathomable—unapproachable. How are we going to know God? Jesus is the visible image of the invisible God. Jesus makes the invisible God known.
You will know God not by reason, not by religion, not by ritual. You’re going to know God only by revelation. Jesus Christ came to reveal God to you. You can never fully know God the Father apart from God the Son, “…who is the image of the invisible God.” All of God was in Jesus Christ. He is the expressed image of God.
Jesus Christ is there to be found. If you desire to know the very Son of God, He has said, “And you will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, says the Lord…” (Jeremiah 29:13-14a). Seek Him in His Word, where He will reveal Himself to you.
I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.
Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
