Do You Receive God’s Word?

“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

Hebrews 4:12

Ponder This

We’re to receive the Word of God with meekness. Meekness is strength under control. To be controlled by the Lord, you have to know His will and His way, and to know His will and His way you have to know His Word. You have to receive the Word with meekness. You need to be able to admit that you don’t know enough to guide your own life.

You need guidance. God knows what you don’t. If God is going to guide your life, then you’ve got to receive the Word with meekness, which can save your soul. You have to come to a place where you say, “I set aside this wickedness; I turn from it.” My friend, if you want God to speak to you—if you want to understand this Book and want the Bible to burst aflame in your heart and mind—then you’ve got to get the spiritual wax out of your ears. And the only way to do that is by repentance.

  • How do you seek to grow in knowledge and love of the Word?
  • Where do you struggle to look for guidance from God?

Practice This

Surrender to God a matter you have been trying to handle yourself. Ask for His guidance through His Word and His Spirit.
