Do You Want Fellowship with God?

“…that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.”

1 John 1:3

Ponder This

Jesus took humanity and became like we are that we might become like He is. He took the very nature of man that we might take the nature of God, and so we have fellowship with God through the Lord Jesus Christ. As lowly as we are, we can walk and talk and fellowship with Him and can sing, “I come to the garden alone, when the dew is still on the roses and the voice I hear, falling on my ear, the Son of God discloses, and He walks with me, and He talks with me, and He tells me I am His own.” That’s the fellowship we have with Him because of the incarnation, and that’s the reason John said, in effect, “Look, He’s a man, we saw Him, we touched Him, we hurt Him.” He took the nature of man that we might take the nature of God.

Practice This

Take time today for a walk or a period of reflection to recognize the fellowship you have with God and to talk with Him in that fellowship.

Front Porch Moments by Gayle Foster

WITH KEY INSIGHTS FROM HER FATHER, ADRIAN ROGERS

I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.

Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
