“And Jesus said to them, ‘I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.’”

Do you know what the name Joseph means? It means “abundance or the one who adds to.” It means “a multiplier.” That’s what Joseph was. What does the name Jesus mean? It means “Jehovah Saves.” And He is also the one whose life is full of abundance. Jesus said, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy” (John 10:10). Who is the thief? Satan. He is the great subtractor. But Jesus said, “I’ve come that you might have life, and have it abundantly.” He is the Joseph who adds to, who multiplies, and who gives abundance.
A little girl once saw a communion table at the front of the sanctuary. And the little girl had just been learning math, the plus signs, and the minus signs. She looked and saw the cross on the communion table, and she asked her mother, “Why is the plus sign there?” It is a funny question but carries a serious reminder, Jesus Christ died upon that cross to add to us life and to give it abundantly.
Thank God for the opportunity to receive abundant life through Jesus.
I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.
Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
