Are you looking for something to give somebody this Christmas? Why not give them what God gave? His love. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
When God gave Jesus, He was giving us the gift of love.
Our world is in a desperate condition. We have a lot of self-styled doctors, technicians, and bureaucrats who have prescribed many cures for humanity’s hurts. But it is well said that what the world needs now is love.
Jesus said that in the last days, “because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold” (Matthew 24:12). Love is the commodity that is desperately needed, especially this Christmas season.
I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.
Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
