“These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.”

When you commune with the Lord Jesus Christ, His joy comes into you. It’s not an imitation of His joy. It’s not your joy. It is His joy. You rejoice through the Lord because joy is the fruit of His Spirit. You don’t produce this joy; it is produced by the Spirit in your life, and you just bear this joy.
I don’t care how much you own, I don’t care how handsome you are, I don’t care how beautiful you are, I don’t care how so-called happy you are, I don’t care what your family is like—if you don't have joy, life is meaningless.
To rejoice is a choice; it’s not automatic. That’s the reason the Bible tells us, “Rejoice in the Lord always” (Philippians 4:4). And that choice begins with choosing Jesus and knowing Jesus. No Jesus, no joy. But know Jesus and you’ll know joy.
Take time to commune with Jesus today.
I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.
Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
