God’s Strength in Our Weakness
“And Saul said to David, ‘You are not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him; for you are a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.’”

Ponder This
What would have happened that day if the Philistines had a giant and the Israelites had a giant and the Israelite giant went out and beat the Philistine giant? What would that have proven? Not a thing in the world, just another Super Bowl, that's all. Here’s their champion and here’s our champion: they go out and it is a toss-up as to who will win. Who is the strongest? But now suppose, a junior high school team goes to Chicago and plays the Bears. They say, “We're coming in the name of Jehovah,” and they win the battle. What do you think people in Chicago are going to think? It was the very weakness of David and the Israelites that highlighted God’s power. The goal in our lives is not to become strong in our own power but to display God’s strength that is working in our weakness.

Practice This
Ask God to reveal areas of weakness in your life that He wants to use. Step out in faith, acting obediently in that area, trusting that God will use you to display His strength.

Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
