The Only True Answer is Jesus

“Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met Him, but Mary was sitting in the house. Now Martha said to Jesus, ‘Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died. But even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You.’ Jesus said to her, ‘Your brother will rise again.’ Martha said to Him, ‘I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.’ Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?’ She said to Him, ‘Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.’”

John 11:20-27

Ponder This

What do the sociologist, the psychologist, and the psychiatrist say that people need today? They say people need an example, encouragement, environment, and education. We’re spending billions of dollars on those things.

Now, suppose we’re trying to raise a dead man. How are we going to raise that dead man? I’ll tell you one way we could try to raise that dead man: We could try giving him an example. I could get a friend over here and say, “Bobby, I’ve got a dead man, come show him how a live man lives. Do fifty push-ups. Could you do that?” So, here’s Bobby down here showing this man the strength and energy he has. Do you think an example is going to raise a dead man? Certainly not. What are we going to do? We are going to encourage him. I say, “Hey, man, you can do it.” Am I going to encourage a dead man to life? Surely not. You see, Jesus is the only answer to Man’s death. Only He can give eternal life. We can try and find all the answers, but we will never find a true answer outside of Him.

  • What are some ways you try to answer your questions about life apart from Jesus?
  • Who in your life needs the hope of life with Jesus?

Pray for someone who does not have the hope of life with Jesus.

Front Porch Moments by Gayle Foster

WITH KEY INSIGHTS FROM HER FATHER, ADRIAN ROGERS

I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.

Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
