We Have Been Freed!

“For he who has died has been freed from sin.”

Romans 6:7

Ponder This

Dr. Robert G. Lee went to the Holy Land for the first time and he came to the place called Calvary. The guide was giving a lecture and he asked, “How many of you have ever been here before?” Now remember, it was Dr. Lee’s first trip to the Holy Land, Yet, Dr. Lee lifted his hand. And the guide asked, “When were you here?” Dr. Lee replied, “Two thousand years ago. When Jesus died for me, I died with Him.” That’s the reason the Apostle Paul said in Galatians 2:20, “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” Sin has been our taskmaster and our dictator but because of the death of Christ in our place, we have been set free.

  • How have you experienced the joy of freedom through Christ?
  • What are some specific ways your life is different today than it was before Christ?

Practice This

Take time to write a list of ways you have been freed from sin through Christ.

Front Porch Moments by Gayle Foster

WITH KEY INSIGHTS FROM HER FATHER, ADRIAN ROGERS

I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.

Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
