“Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.”

Notice that John linked being like Jesus and seeing Him. Did you know, if you were to see Jesus right now, you would disintegrate? You couldn’t bear it in your body without being transformed. You would not be able to look upon Him.
Jesus dwells in such glory that you could not even begin to approach it. We have sent a man to the moon, but we will never send one to the sun because no one can approach the sun. Likewise, the Lord Jesus dwells in light “whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power. Amen” (1 Timothy 6:16). That means we’ll have to be like Him to see Him as He is. If we were not made like Him, our eyes could not stand the sight. But as John stated here, we are going to be like Him, and we’re going to see Him as He is.
Today make a list of the ways God is different from us. Reflect on the promise that we will be made like Jesus when He returns.
I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.
Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
