Nehemiah was a man who knew how to get alone with God. He fasted, prayed, and wept. And when he had done all of this, God told him what to do.
Do you want to know God’s will about something? Have you done what Nehemiah did? Or are you just putting yourself into neutral and letting life push you around? Do you have a focus? If not, why not?
God has a plan for your life. He has something He wants you to do. You are special to God, and the same God who has called you is the God who has equipped you. Would to God that you would get alone, fix your focus on that plan, and find the will of God for your life!
If you’ll listen, God will lay something on your heart. I want you to say like the apostle Paul, “This one thing I do . . .” (Philippians 3:13).
I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.
Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
