A Quality Quiet Time with God

Christianity is a love relationship between a child of God and his Maker through the Son, Jesus Christ, and in the power of the Holy Spirit.

You cannot love someone you do not know. And you cannot know someone with whom you don’t spend quality time. To know God is to love Him. To love Him is to trust Him. To trust Him is to obey Him. And to obey Him is to be blessed. It all begins with a quality quiet time—a daily communion time with the Lord.

Psalm 5:3 says, “My voice You shall hear in the morning, O LORD; In the morning I will direct it to You, and I will look up.” Why should you have a quiet time in the morning? Because you are getting ready to start the day. You wouldn’t take a trip and then read the map, would you?

The prayer offered to God in the morning during your quiet time is the key that unlocks the door of the day. Any athlete knows that it is the start that ensures a good finish.

Front Porch Moments by Gayle Foster

WITH KEY INSIGHTS FROM HER FATHER, ADRIAN ROGERS

I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.

Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
