Clearly and plainly God says in His word, “Thou shalt not commit adultery” (Exodus 20:14). Adultery is a sin against one’s self. It’s a sin against one’s home. It’s a sin against one’s nation.
Edward Gibbon, who wrote The Decline And Fall Of The Roman Empire, said that the sin of immorality was the number one thing that brought that empire crashing down. Historians tell us adultery was the sin that also destroyed Greece, Egypt, and Babylon. I believe it may well be the sin that will destroy America.
Even now the raging waters of God’s wrath are pounding furiously against the dam of His mercy. One day that dam of mercy will give way to the waters of God’s wrath. The Bible says in Proverbs 14:34, “Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.” The enemy of the home is also the enemy of society.
"I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.
Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
