Assurance Of Everlasting Life

Ponder This

A little boy was in a revival meeting. The pastor preached from John 5:24, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth My word, and believeth on Him that sent Me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”

On the way home, the little fellow said the devil began to whisper to him saying, “You’re not saved. You don’t feel just right. You don’t deserve it.” He sat on the couch and remembered the verse. “Verily, Verily, I say unto you.” That means truly, truly, I say unto you. He started talking to himself, Jesus says he that heareth His word…I heard it…and believeth on Him that sent me...I believe….hath everlasting life…I have everlasting life. The word says so.

It seemed to the boy that Satan was under the couch. He took the Bible and stuck it under the couch and said, “Devil, read it for yourself!” From that moment on, the doubt left.

“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God” (1 John 5:13).

I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.

Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
