One of the greatest secrets I ever learned was that God didn’t want me to do anything for Him. He wanted to do something through me. Philippians 2:13 says, "For it is God which works in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure."
Whenever I hear people say, “I just serve God in my poor, little, old, weak way,” I feel like saying, “Well, quit it!” God doesn’t want you to serve Him in your poor, little, old, weak way. He wants you to die to yourself and let Him live through you in His mighty, glorious, dynamic way.
Then we can say, “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me" (Galatians 2:20).
"I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.
Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
