Have you ever started anything you weren’t able to finish? I have started many things that I haven’t been able to finish, but God has never started anything, He is not able to finish. Philippians 1:6 says, “Being confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.”
A little boy named Billy said to his friend Jimmy, “My dad has a list of men that he can whip and you need to know that you daddy’s name is on that list.” Jimmy went home and said, “Dad I want to tell you something. Billy says that his daddy has a list of men that he can whip and your name is number 1 on the list.”
Jimmy’s daddy went to speak with Billy’s daddy. He rolled up his sleeves and said, “I understand that you have a list of people that you can whip and my name is number 1 on the list. Is that right?” Billy’s daddy said, “Yes, that is right.” Jimmy’s daddy said, “Well, what are you going to do about it now?” Billy’s daddy said, “Well, I will just take your name off the list.”
I am so glad that God never has to take anybody’s name off the list. I am so glad that God never starts anything He is not able to finish.
I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.
Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
