BIBLE MEDITATION:
Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave Himself for it. Ephesians 5:25
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
A little boy was looking through the family picture album, and he came to a picture of his mother when she was a young girl, taken just after his parents had married. The boy asked his father, “Is that when Mother came to work for us?”
Does this ring true in your home? Let me set the record straight. That’s not what the Bible teaches. That’s not the way Christ loves the church. He gave Himself to us to sacrifice for us. The husband is to love his wife as Christ loves the church.
If a husband follows the example of Jesus Christ, he will love his wife sacrificially. He will love her in such a way that he would be willing to lay down his life for her. He’s going to protect her. He’s going to provide for her. He’s going to do what he can to present his wife and family as holy vessels for the Lord’s use.
ACTION POINT:
Are you married? Then how are you doing on the sacrificial quotient of giving to your spouse? If you had to, would you be willing to lay down your life for your spouse? It’s servant leadership. And your children are watching your example.
I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.
Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
