Do you know what is happening in America today? People are claiming to be Christians but they do not belong to and are not faithful to a local fellowship. Such a thing was unheard of in the Bible!
To be a Christian meant that you were faithful to the fellowship, and you attended when everyone gathered together. If you stopped attending, the church assumed that you were an apostate and lost.
Let me ask you…what do you do that is more important than being a part of the blood-bought body of the Lord Jesus Christ? What is more important than the local visible expression of the body of Christ? Hebrews 10:25 says, “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.”
I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.
Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
