Do know if you're in financial bondage? To find out, take this test.
1. Have you ever found yourself having to charge the things you need daily, like gasoline, food, groceries?
2. Do you put off until next month paying a bill that is due now?
3. Do you ever borrow money to pay fixed expenses like taxes and insurance?
4. Are you aware of how much money you owe?
5. Do you have creditors calling you and hounding you for overdue bills?
6. Do you make new loans to pay off old loans?
7. Have you ever thought about being dishonest with your money, like cheating on your taxes, cutting a corner in a business deal, or whatever?
If you answered yes to most of these, then I would venture to say that you are in financial bondage. But I've got good news. God wants to deliver you.
It is not simply the poor who are in financial bondage. If you are well off and you're still not satisfied, then you’re in bondage. If wealth is what motivates you, I hate to tell you this, but you are in financial bondage.
The Bible says in Matthew 6:33, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."
I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.
Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
