First Peter 3:7 says, “Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honor unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.”
Most husbands are not good husbands because they are not understanding husbands. The reason they aren’t understanding husbands is, they have never really taken time to gain knowledge about their wives. They are too proud to learn and to admit, “I don’t know.”
Now, when they get a new automobile, they drive it according to knowledge. It comes with a manual, and they read the manual and say, “Well now, what kind of gasoline will this automobile use? How often do I rotate the tires? What is the air pressure in the tires? What kind of oil will it use?” Then they’re constantly watching the gauges and so forth to see to it that they’re responding to the needs of an automobile.
There are some gauges you can learn to read to respond to the needs of your wife, if you’re intelligent, and if you will dwell with her “according to knowledge.”
