What is God’s plan for you? God wants to enlarge you, not indulge you. God is not nearly as interested in making you happy and healthy as He is in making you holy.
Knowing that, you will then understand that sometimes God will bring trouble into your life. Psalm 4:1 says, “Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: Thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer” (emphasis mine).
When have you grown spiritually? For most of us, it is when our good friend Trouble came along. That’s when you’ve been stretched. Now, we all enjoy a trouble-free life, but I can give this testimony: I have grown the most in my own life in times of deepest despair.
"I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.
Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
