Later Than You Think

"

It is tragic: there’s not only anarchy in the world and apostasy in the church. There’s also apathy in the pew. People just roll over and yawn in the face of God and go back to sleep.

The alarm has sounded. I believe Jesus Christ is at the threshold and the trumpet is about to sound.

It may be later in your life than you think. You only have so many more minutes, hours, and days to serve the Lord Jesus. James 4:14 says, “Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.”

It is also later in the day of opportunity than we may think. We now have opportunities that are unparalleled to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. When Jesus was here on earth, He said, “I must work the works of Him that sent Me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work” (John 9:4).

There are a lot of things you can do, but there’s one thing you cannot do when you get to heaven: you cannot win souls. All the soul-winning you are ever going to do you must do while you are on this earth. And it may be later in that day of opportunity than you think.

FOR YOUR GIFT TO THE MINISTRY

Front Porch Moments by Gayle Foster

WITH KEY INSIGHTS FROM HER FATHER, ADRIAN ROGERS

I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.

Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
