Leisure Time...A Necessity

"

Jesus knew joy and Jesus knew happiness. The Bible says concerning Him, “Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even Thy God, hath anointed Thee with the oil of gladness above Thy fellows” (Hebrews 1:9).

I want to tell you something. Leisure is not a luxury; it is a necessity. The word "leisure" comes from a Latin word which means "to give permission." So leisure time is something you give yourself because you need it, and God wants you to have it.

And if you have children, don’t fail to have fun with your kids while they are kids. You need to throw away your excuses (and all of us have excuses).

“I don’t have time.” Then you make time. “I am working for their inheritance.” Friend, it would be far better for you to live rich than to die rich. “Well, I will make it up with the grandkids.” They may not even be bringing the grandkids around because of the way that you lived with them. “Well, I have deadlines.” You will always have deadlines. But you won’t have a four-year-old forever.

Front Porch Moments by Gayle Foster

WITH KEY INSIGHTS FROM HER FATHER, ADRIAN ROGERS

I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.

Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
