Living And Dying For Your Wife

"

Ephesians 5:25-27 says, “Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave Himself for it; That He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the Word, That He might present it to Himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.”

The word for “love” is not the word for erotic love. It is for sacrificial, self-giving love. You see, Jesus loved the church enough to die for the church.

Husband, you ought to love your wife enough to die for her. Well, I do. Do you? I’ll tell you one way you can find out. Do you live for her? You see, a man willing to die for his wife shows it by the way that he lives for his wife. You don’t have to die physically to die to your pride, ambition, and ego.

When the Bible says you are to love your wife as Christ loved the church, what it literally means is this: Nothing is too precious for you to give up for your wife and your home, except your relationship to God. I’m going to tell you something else. Most women do not mind being in submission to a husband who loves her enough to die for her and shows it by the way he lives for her. Isn’t that true?

Front Porch Moments by Gayle Foster

WITH KEY INSIGHTS FROM HER FATHER, ADRIAN ROGERS

I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.

Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
