James 4:7 says, ‘Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” God does not tell us to run from him. We are told to fight – and not in our strength but in His strength.
Have you ever thought of the devil fleeing from you? Most of us instead want to have a stand-off with him. Or we say, “Devil, if you will leave me alone, I will leave you alone.” But he is not going to leave you alone until you resist him in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Well how can I do that? Revelation 12:11 says, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.” I want you to know that the devil cares nothing for your resolutions or your intentions, but he fears the blood of Jesus Christ.
When the devil gets on your case, bring the blood of Jesus and the Word of God against him. And when the devil comes after you, you don’t have to take it.
I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.
Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
