Do you think a perfect church would be a church filled with perfect people? It wouldn’t be. There is no such thing as a perfect church, because by its very definition, the church is the body of believers. And believers are in all stages of growth.
If you are a perfectionist, then you are going to be miserable and you are going to make everybody else miserable. Why? Because nothing will ever be good enough. The fellowship will never be sweet enough. The teacher will never be prepared enough. The music will never be spiritual enough.
Jesus supplies your only perfection until you get to heaven. It is not perfection that God is looking for in His children, it is excellence. First Corinthians 15:10 says, "But by the grace of God I am what I am: and His grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me."
"I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.
Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
