Praying For Your Children

"

If you ask God to give you a child, and He does, then your prayers must follow that child. Do you know why so many prayers are unanswered? People say, “Well, I pray for my child and God just doesn’t seem to hear my prayer for my child.”

Well, let me ask you a question. What are you praying? Are you asking God for them to enjoy good health? Have great success? Gain popularity? I wonder how many of you reading this are parents who pray that God will send your child wherever He wants them to go in order to fulfill the Great Commission. There are many people who feel it would be a tragedy if God were to make a missionary out of their child.

I can remember people talking to my parents and trying to encourage them to encourage me not to go into the ministry because they said it would be a waste. How many of you are praying, “God, make my son important. Make my daughter famous.”

Do you know what my desire is for my children? My dear wife, Joyce, joins me in this desire and prayer for our children which is found in 3 John 4: “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.”

FOR YOUR GIFT TO THE MINISTRY

Front Porch Moments by Gayle Foster

WITH KEY INSIGHTS FROM HER FATHER, ADRIAN ROGERS

I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.

Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
