You may not feel like you have an exciting job. But I want to tell you that you are where God has placed you, and you are there for a specific purpose. Proverbs 14:23a says, "In all labor there is profit."
Some people think that work is the punishment for sin. Let's set the record straight. God gave Adam work to do before he ever sinned. Genesis 2:15 says, "And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it." Why a garden? Because people have to eat.
People also have to have houses to live in, furniture to sit on, food to eat, and clothes to wear. When we are helping provide, process, distribute, or produce any of these types of things, we are participating with God as much as Adam was when he was taking care of the Garden of Eden.
I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.
Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
