Restoring A Brother

Ponder This

Galatians 6:1 says, “Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such a one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.”

A brother can be restored. That is good news!

God is the God of the second chance. Do you know somebody who has been overtaken with a fault? The Bible says you are to restore him. “Restore” is a technical word which means to set a bone that has been broken or to mend a net that has been torn.

The person who is backslidden has a burden because his or her relationship with God has been broken. One of the burdens we need to take up and bear is the willingness to relieve a brother of his burden.

Practice This

When you see a fallen brother, it is not a call to gossip, it is a call to prayer.

Front Porch Moments by Gayle Foster

WITH KEY INSIGHTS FROM HER FATHER, ADRIAN ROGERS

I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.

Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
