Rightly Dividing The Word Of God

"

Years ago two men were sitting in the stands of a Billy Graham crusade in London. Before Graham got up to speak, the men were discussing the possible motivations of this American evangelist. Was he a money-grabber? Was he a sensationalist? Was this a cult? They didn’t know, but they were discussing him quite critically.

Then Billy Graham got up to preach. And in his simple, sincere way of teaching the Word of God, the mighty Holy Spirit of conviction fell. When the invitation was given and hundreds of people started to come down the aisle, the man turned to his discussion partner sitting beside him and said, “I don’t know about you, but I’m going forward to give my heart to Jesus Christ.” The man next to him said, “And I’m going with you. And here is your billfold. I’m a pick-pocket.”

That is the power of the Word of God! Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” What a life-changing book is the Word of God!

Front Porch Moments by Gayle Foster

WITH KEY INSIGHTS FROM HER FATHER, ADRIAN ROGERS

I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.

Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
