I want to lift up a red flag of warning against superficial religion. I believe that Satan is in the corner smiling when people put doubts in the minds of little children concerning the Word of God.
When Satan first crawled his slimy, corroding path onto the pages of history, he put a question mark after the Word of God and said, “Yea, hath God said? You don’t have to take His word for it” (see Genesis 3).
I thank God for Bible-believing churches, but if you are a member of a church that doubts the Word of God, you need to saturate that church with your absence. You say, “Well, Grandma is buried in the backyard.” Grandma would get up and leave, too, if she could. I’ll guarantee it.
I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.
Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
