So many people tell me, "What I would really like to do is get out of this job and serve God full time." Have you ever thought that?
May God help me teach you today that if you are a Christian living in the Spirit, you are serving God full-time. Wherever you work—as long as it is an honorable occupation—you are serving God full-time. You are no less a minister because you wear a fast-food uniform. You are no less a teacher because you push a broom. You are no less a prophet because you fly an airplane.
We want to neatly divide life into the secular and the sacred. But God doesn't do that. Our work is to be the temple of our devotion to God, and it is to be the platform of our witness.
Colossians 3:17 says, "And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by Him."
I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.
Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
