Psalm 127:1a says, “Except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it.” The Bible says that your home cannot, will not, and shall not be built by human ingenuity, wit, and wisdom.
Now there are a lot of people who think they know how to do it. Some of them are preachers. And some of us have created our own ideas which are not from the Word of God. There are even some people who lecture on how to build a home who have never been married. I heard of one preacher who said, “Before I got married, I had four sermons on the home and no children. After a while, I had four children and no sermons.”
Building a home is a very complicated matter. Your wit, wisdom, and ingenuity will not be able to help you build a happy, fruitful and prosperous Christian home. You need a divine blueprint and builder. And that builder and that plan is Christ and His Word.
"I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.
Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
