In these shaky days in which we live, every Christian needs to get a firm grip on the Word of God. What has happened today is that we have gone off into subjectivism, emotional feelings, ecstasies, thoughts and philosophies, rather than standing on the Word of God.
There used to be a time when preachers would say, “The Bible says….”
Then they started saying, “The church says….”
Now they just scratch their heads and say, “Well, it seems to me….”
No, we all need to stand on the infallible Word of God.
We are not to judge things by appearance. We are to live by faith. Faith is the only resource we’re going to have in these days of moral relativism and humanistic philosophy.
The most powerful force on earth is faith. As Habakkuk says, “The just shall live by faith.” (Habakkuk 2:4b). That’s the verse that convicted Martin Luther and caused the Protestant Reformation during the Middle Ages. In these days and in these end times, you need to live by faith.
I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.
Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
