Almost fifty years ago, Billy Graham preached a crusade in London, England in the once-famous Harringay Arena. Many Londoners came to hear Billy Graham preach.
As the story goes, two men were sitting in the stands and they were talking about the American evangelist. What was his motivation? Was he a money-grabber? Was he a sensationalist? Was it a cult? They didn’t know, but they were discussing him quite critically.
Billy Graham got up to preach, and God’s Holy Spirit of conviction fell. When they gave the invitation, one man turned to the other and said, “I don’t know about you, but I’m going forward to give my heart to Jesus Christ.” The other man said, “I’m going with you, and here’s your billfold. I’m a pickpocket.”
That is the power of the Word of God! Will you let it transform your life today?
I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.
Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
