Matthew 19:6 says, “Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.” What is the product of marriage? One flesh. And there is nothing more beautiful or intimate between a husband and a wife.
Let me give you a picture of what this is like. There on a mountain top is a little stream that begins to trickle down. On a distant mountain another spring bubbles and forms a second spring and it begins to trickle down. Now each stream takes a unique course as it comes down the mountain side. And when these two streams meet and the water intermingles, they become one stream. That is like marriage.
So many people think monogamy is a penalty of marriage. People jokingly refer to monogamous marriages as monotonous. They think of holy wedlock as deadlock. But you see, God’s plans are for your good and your welfare.
I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.
Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
