Do you know what God’s goal is for you? To purify you. He wants to burn out the dross and the impurities in your life and present you as pure gold.
Do you know what God is interested in? Not making you happy. God’s goal for you is to make you holy, to purge and purify you. That’s what God is doing in your life if you are saved. The moment you got saved, God began His work to make you pure and holy.
God is not as interested in your automobile as you are. If He has to wreck it, it’s not going to bother Him. God is not as interested in your job as you are. If He wants to take it, it’s not going to bother Him. God is not as interested in your health as you are. God will touch all of these things if it is necessary to make you holy.
Malachi 3:2-3 says, “But who may abide the day of His coming? and who shall stand when He appeareth? for He is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' soap: And He shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and He shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness.”
I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.
Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
