The Salt Of The Earth

"

Did you know that salt is a compound consisting of sodium (which is a metal) and chlorine (which is a green, poisonous gas)? If you were to walk into a room full of chlorine, you would be dead in just a moment.

If you were to ingest either sodium or chlorine alone, you would die. And yet, God, in His infinite wisdom and creative chemistry, has put the two together to form sodium chloride. We call it table salt and it is necessary for life.

I think of what God has done by the chemistry of the cross. How He took that deadly part of my nature and made something new out of me. He has even given me a new name, just like sodium and chloride gets a new name called “salt.”

Jesus said, “Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men” (Matthew 5:13). How are you living your life today?

FOR YOUR GIFT TO THE MINISTRY

Front Porch Moments by Gayle Foster

WITH KEY INSIGHTS FROM HER FATHER, ADRIAN ROGERS

I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.

Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
