But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. 1 Peter 2:9
Christians are a kingdom of priests, so in order to understand what that means, let’s look at what someone had to do to become a priest in the Old Testament:
In the Old Testament priesthood, you see
(a) the atoning blood
(b) being clothed in the righteousness of Jesus Christ
(c) being anointed with the Holy Spirit.
God’s Word flows in beautiful harmony from the Old Testament in analogy into the New Testament in reality as Jesus Christ becomes the fulfillment of the Law and our atoning sacrifice.
Have you been bathed in the cleansing blood? Are you aware you’re wearing the righteous robe of Christ and the Holy Spirit lives within you? As you go through your day today, be ever mindful: you are a priest. You are chosen, royal, holy, set apart for Him.
I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.
Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
