Any appraiser will tell you that when he appraises a building, an automobile or whatever, the worth is based on what someone else will pay for it. That is the value he will place on the item.
Now, think about your soul. Is your soul valuable? Jesus thinks so. He paid for your soul with His precious blood. First Peter 1:18-19 says, “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.”
Do you want to know what your soul is worth? Kneel down in the blood-drenched soil of Calvary and look up to see Jesus writhing in agony with the fires of God’s wrath being poured out upon His only Son. Why? Because He is purchasing your soul. Don’t tell me you are not a fabulous treasure. Jesus paid for you with His very life!
I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.
Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
