What is the world coming to?

For by Him [Jesus] were all things created, that are in Heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by Him, and for Him; And He is before all things, and by Him all things consist. Colossians 1:16-17

Three weeks from today we celebrate the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Bible says, “All things were created by Him and for Him…“ (v. 16) In this sentence the word “for” is a preposition that speaks of direction. It’s the Greek word for “moving in the direction.”

We in America have been invaded by Eastern religions. Eastern religions are circular. Everything goes round and round. They believe that it’s all circular. But it’s not circular. It is all headed in a direction. The Bible is linear. We’re moving—moving to the time when the kingdoms of this world will become the kingdoms of our Lord and His Christ.

Friend, it is all headed to Jesus. It is all for Him, for the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the key to the mystery of history.

People ask, “What is the world coming to?” Answer: “It’s coming to Jesus.”

Front Porch Moments by Gayle Foster

WITH KEY INSIGHTS FROM HER FATHER, ADRIAN ROGERS

I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.

Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
