BIBLE MEDITATION:
And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you. Ephesians 4:32
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
I read something that deeply touched my heart about a PGA golfer named Roberto De Vicenzo. As he was leaving a tournament with his winnings, a woman, sad and forlorn, approached him. “It's a big day for you, but it's a sad day for me. My baby has been diagnosed with an incurable disease in the blood, and my little baby is dying.” De Vicenzo’s heart was touched. “Madam,” he said in broken English, “May I do something for you and your child?” He took his check, endorsed it on the back and gave it to her right there. “Take this and try to buy some happiness for yourself and your child.
A week later he was in the clubhouse having lunch, and one of the PGA officials came up to him and said, “You know that woman to whom you gave your check? She doesn't have a sick baby. As a matter of fact, she doesn't have a child at all. She’s a phony, a con artist.” De Vicenzo said, “Do you mean to tell me there’s no baby dying?” That’s the best news I’ve heard all week!”
When I read that I thought, “What an attitude!”
ACTION POINT:
Many of us are so cynical, we're afraid we're going to do something and someone will take advantage of us. Aren’t you glad that God knows? Be thankful today that God is keeping the score.
I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.
Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
