For if you live after the flesh, you shall die: but if you, through the Spirit, mortify the deeds of the body, you shall live. Romans 8:13
We preachers are fond of saying, “Get right with God. You may die!” It is far better to say, “Get right with God. You may live!” The greatest joy in life is living for Jesus. Why waste more time? There’s a life to live!
Friend, the best thing you can say about a life lived without Christ is that it’s a wasted life. Billy Sunday, a revival preacher from the 1920s, said repenting and accepting Christ on your deathbed is “burning the candle of life for the devil, and then blowing the smoke in God’s face.”
Don’t choose to live and die like that.
If you’re not saved, it’s not too late. If you want to be saved—wherever you are, whoever you are, whatever you’ve done—Jesus wants to save you. Repent and believe and you will be saved.
I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.
Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
