Will God Give Me a Pure Heart?

“He will sit as a refiner and a purifier of silver; He will purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer to the Lord an offering in righteousness”

Malachi 3:3

Ponder This

Do you know that God is not as interested in making you happy as He is in making you holy? His goal is to purge and purify you. The moment you were saved, God began His work to make you pure and holy. He wants to burn out the dross and impurities in your life and present you as pure gold.

You see, He is not as interested in your possessions as you are. He is not as interested in your job as you are. He is not as interested in your health as you are. But He cares for you so much that He wants to make you pure. And God will touch all of these things, if necessary, to make you holy.

Practice This

How much do you want to be made pure and holy before the Lord? Not “holier than thou” in attitude but pure in heart before Him. If that is your desire, ask Him to begin to burn out the dross and impurities. There may be something in your life right now you recognize as dross. If so, start a “closet-clean-out” in your heart today. He will help you bag it and take it to the curb!

Front Porch Moments by Gayle Foster

WITH KEY INSIGHTS FROM HER FATHER, ADRIAN ROGERS

I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.

Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
