“And there were four leprous men at the entering in of the gate: and they said one to another, “Why sit we here until we die?”

Jim Elliot, martyred missionary to the Aucas in Ecuador (now known as the Waorani tribe), wrote in the flyleaf of his Bible, “He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose.” He's talking about giving his life for Christ and the gospel.
I’ll tell you, in these days the most dangerous thing you can do is to play it safe. You are safer out on the waves with Jesus Christ than you are in the boat without Him. These are desperate days, and we need to live like it.
Even the lepers in 2 Kings had sense enough to ask, “Why sit here till we die?” You're going to die anyway. Don't just sit there and let life pass you by! Come to Jesus. You have everything to gain. You’ve got nothing to lose. You can’t save your life and you won’t get out of it alive. So invest it in something important.
I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.
Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
