Your Marriage as God Intended

“For this reason shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church”

Ephesians 5:31-32

Ponder This

Now, wait a minute. Is Paul talking about a man and his wife or about Jesus and the church? Paul is talking about both.

You see, marriage, when it is right, is one of the sweetest, most sublime things we know here on earth.

Of course, when it is wrong, it’s very wrong. I know some people who, rather than being married by a Justice of the Peace, were married by the Secretary of War. But I'm not talking about that kind of marriage. I'm talking about marriage as God intended it to be. Then, the physical relationship, the psychological, and the spiritual relationship between a husband and a wife are but an illustration of the greater spiritual relationship of Christ and the church.

Front Porch Moments by Gayle Foster

WITH KEY INSIGHTS FROM HER FATHER, ADRIAN ROGERS

I try to unplug each morning with Jesus with just my rocking chair, my Bible, and a pen.

Having a secret place is very important because I know that Jesus is always there waiting for me. I know where I can find Him! His presence is everywhere, but there are places where it is so thick you can cut it with a knife. You may not even have a front porch, but there is a secret place for you as well. God’s invitations are for anyone who will respond. There is no more important request than the one found in Psalm 27:8: “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
